Hunger Action Month at Blend Culinary Foundation
We don’t often talk about food as infrastructure. We talk about roads, transport, buildings…systems that keep society functioning. But food is just as foundational. It’s the first system that is relied upon. Without stable access to food, nothing else works.
Food is the infrastructure that underpins human capability.
Hunger Action Month is a reminder of what happens when that infrastructure weakens. When people can’t rely on food, the impact isn’t just hunger; it’s instability and the erosion of participation in daily life.
This month, we’re highlighting the food banks we’re proudly supporting: S6 Food Bank, Birmingham Central Foodbank, Salford Food Bank, and Southwark Foodbank. Their work reinforces the essential infrastructure that keeps communities upright. They ensure that people have the foundation they need to learn, work, care, connect and move forward.
Sheffield
In Sheffield, we are proud to support S6 Foodbank – a vital organisation helping hundreds of families and individuals facing food poverty across the city every single day. This September, we’re asking you to donate directly and help feed someone in Sheffield who needs it most.
Birmingham
In Birmingham, we work closely with Birmingham Central Foodbank – doing incredible work in the heart of the city to provide food and support to people facing food insecurity. This September, please help us champion their mission by donating directly and making a real difference to someone in Birmingham.
Salford
In Salford, we are proud to support Salford Food Bank – an organisation working tirelessly to help people facing hardship across Salford and the wider Greater Manchester area. Every penny donated goes directly to supporting someone in need in their local community.
London
In London, we are proud to support Southwark Foodbank – an organisation that continues to provide vital emergency food and support to local people experiencing financial hardship and food insecurity.
