A Brilliant First: Our Inaugural Corporate Pledge Day at Alfred Works

There are “first days”… and then there are first days that set the tone for everything to come. Our brand-new kitchen inside Alfred Works officially came to life on Tuesday 14th April,  as we hosted our first ever Corporate Pledge Day, complete with our debut Alfred Works Cookery School Corporate Custard Pledge Day…and what a start it was.

We welcomed fantastic staff from Boom Battle Bar and Conference Solutions, who rolled up their sleeves, tied on their aprons, and got straight to work. And together, we created impact.

Cooking for a cause

Across the day, our teams collectively cooked and packed 74 portions of nutritious, homemade meals for Feedo Needo, a brilliant Digbeth-based organisation working to eradicate food poverty and support people experiencing homelessness.

 

On the menu:

-Chipotle sweet potato & black bean stew with cheesy dumplings

-Chicken & butternut squash lentil curry

-Spicy mince with bulgar wheat

The kitchen smelled incredible and the energy was high. When staff form Feedo Needo arrived to collect the parcels, they shared stories about their role in the community and reminded us that the meals made during our very first session would be going straight to people who need them today.

 

It was a powerful moment, and exactly the kind of purpose-driven start we hoped for in our new space.
