Celebrating Creativity, Community
and a Year of Collaboration
Celebrating Creativity, Community and a Year of Collaboration.
On Monday 15th June at Cambridge Street Collective, we had the privilege of hosting an event that captured everything we believe hospitality should be welcoming, creative, and deeply connected to the communities around us.
The reception marked the launch of the Blended Exhibition, celebrating a year long collaboration between Blend Culinary Foundation, ArWorks South Yorkshire. And S6 Foodbank. A partnership built on food, creativity, and meaningful social impact.
The exhibition showcased powerful photography by Adam Galliford, taken during last year’s cooking sessions with Blend Culinary Foundation and ArtWorks adult participants. Alongside the photography, guests explored artwork created by participants in response to their experiences: pieces that reflect pride, confidence, and the joys of learning something new.
Supporting Skills, Confidence, and Connection
At the heart of this project is a simple but transformative idea: that cooking together builds confidence, independence, and community.
Over the past year, the programme supported by adult SEND and Autistic learners to:
- Develop practical cooking skills
- Build confidence and independence
- Experience connection through shared food
Participants cooked meals for themselves and for donation to S6 foodbank, preparing more than 200 meals for the wider community throughout the programme. It’s a reminder that food doesn’t just nourish, it gives people a way to contribute, to feel values, and to be part of something bigger.
A Space That Brings People Together
In partnership with Cambridge Street Collective, we were proud to host the Blended kick-off reception, marking both the exhibition launch and the start of Disabilities Awareness Week,
Our food hall played a central role throughout the project, offering an inclusive, welcoming space where participants could learn, create, and connect. Yesterday’s reception continued that spirit. We at Blend Culinary Foundation played a central role throughout the project, offering an inclusive, welcoming space where participants could learn, create, and connect. Yesterday’s reception continued that spirit. The Foundation supported the event with freshly made cakes, brownies, scones, and hot drinks – small comforts that helped set the tone for a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and community pride.
Why This Matters to Us
For us, this project represents the best of what food halls can be.
They’re not just places to eat. They’re places where people meet, learn, share, and feel part of the city’s rhythm. Supporting programmes like this is part of our commitment to:
- Champion inclusive spaces
- Celebrating creativity in all its forms
- Using food as a force for good
Seeing participants’ work displayed publicly and seeing them celebrated for their achievements is exactly why we open our doors to projects like this. It’s a reminder that hospitality is, and always will be, about people.
Looking Ahead
The exhibition will remain on display throughout Disabilities Awareness Week, and we’re honoured to continue supporting partners, artists, and participants who made this project possible.
It was a privilege to host this celebration, and we’re excited to keep building spaces where creativity, community, and good food come together.
